State Central Committee (SCC)

Google Group Guide

Google Groups is the system that is currently used by the Minnesota DFL State Central Committee as required by the Constitution to maintain an email list for communication among its members. Google Groups is a service by Google that provides discussion groups for those who share a common interest. This particular Google Group is open to members of the State Central Committee; and elected officials in the U.S. Congress, Legislature, or constitutional office who were elected with the DFL Party’s nomination.

Joining the SCC Google Group

  1. Getting started. If you are a member of the MN DFL State Central Committee and have provided the state party with an email address on your reporting list, you should be added to the SCC Google Group. When you are added to the group you will receive a welcome email informing you that you have been added to the group. *This will at times be sent to your junk email so it is recommended that you check there intermittently if you are expecting an invitation.

  1. If you are not added automatically. If you are not currently in the google group and believe you should be you can email partyaffairs@dfl.org. Please put in the subject: SCC Google Group and include in the email your First Name, Last Name, through which unit you are an SCC member(or any other qualification for joining the google group), AND the email address you would like added to the google group.

Changing your Email Settings

There are three ways to receive emails from the Google Group. When you are added you will typically be signed up to receive every email sent to the group. However, if you are concerned about the number of emails you are receiving through the group you can also change that setting.

  1. View Your Google Groups in a Browser. You can access Google Groups in various ways. As displayed below, if you receive email notifications from the Google Group, you can view the discussion group in your browser by clicking on the link in your email notifications as demonstrated in the last option below.

You may also access it by searching “groups.google.com” and logging into your respective account.

  1. Once you are on the DFL State Central Google Groups page, you should be able to see the menu on the left side of the page. Click on “My membership settings.”

  1. Once you have reached “My membership settings,” click the drop-down box for “Subscription.” You will see the options for each email, digest, abridged, and no email. These indicate how many emails you will receive from the discussion group daily.

Each email indicates you will receive every individual email that is sent to the group in your inbox.

Digest indicates you will receive an email update for every 25 emails sent to the group in your inbox.

Abridged indicates you will receive an email update for every 150 emails sent to the group in your inbox.

No email indicates you will not receive any email updates from the group in your inbox.

Once you have selected your subscription option, remember to save your changes.
